Tuesday again

Hey there!

"Really, mom?  Another one?"

Payback for always picking on me, sissy!

I think Colt is telling me, "Cora did it!"

Cora likes to scoot all over.

More scooting

I made my 2 meals and they are in the freezer.  I made them for my mother-in-law and step-father-in-law.  Things are rough for them right now and I want them to know I care.  I want to do anything I can to help them out.

I made an extra chicken tortilla casserole for supper tonight.  It was awesome.  Well, Zac, Abby and I like it.  Shawn thinks its, "okay".

I've decided I don't think Cora's first word is going to be mommy or daddy. It's going to be Lucy. She is obsessed with "her" 6.5 year old puppy dog. Cora squeals and dives for Lucy any time she comes near. Lucy still isn't sure about the twins, yet. Especially when they grab her fur.

Mr. Colton James is asleep <3

Miss Cora Leigh is also asleep <3

We reactivated our Netflix.  We put it on hold when I was pregnant.  Now that the twins are sleeping through the night, we have more time.  I can't wait to start watching movies again.

We caught up on The Walking Dead and Resurrection last night.  The Walking Dead was intense.

I think I'm heading to bed soon.

Goodnight!

Tuesday

Abby and I left the room last night to put baby laundry away and came back to this.  Zac had the TV turned on to Baby's First TV.  Oh boy!

More TV

My daughters

I stuck my tongue out, so Cora did the same.

Good morning!

Uh oh! They found the tissue box.  I'm just glad I saw this before they were all chewed up and slobbered on.  LOL!  I was doing laundry.  I guess I should quit doing housework to make sure the twins stay out of things. ;) I have a feeling I am going to have my hands full very soon.

Baby Wrestling!

Today will be the 3rd day that I'm feeding the twins 3 meals.  I fed them 1 meal for a month, 2 meals for a month, and now we're up to 3 meals.  They love food.  They can both pinch yogurt bites and puffs, but neither can get it to their mouth, yet.  Cora is better at it.  They amaze me.  I love watching them learn and grow.  I have the best job in the world.

The twins are down for a nap, so I am currently cooking and freezing some meals.  I am making:

Pasta with artichoke hearts, broccoli, and chicken alfredo

and

Trisha Yearwood's Chicken Tortilla Casserole

Sound good to you???  Have a great day!

St. Patrick's Day

Breakfast

Lunch

Miss Cora had a little milk dribbled on her chin.

Miss Cora!

Just hanging out...

I'll take this.  This is mine.

You're so funny, sissy!

Lunch

Check out my teeth

I'm only going to let you get a glance at my teeth that I like to bite mommy with.

I don't have green on and neither do Colt or Cora.  I'm trusting them not to pinch me. ;)

I found this article interesting. I use Instagram and Pinterest. I tried Vine, but didn't get it. Now I know why. I might be a girl, but I'm not in my late teens or early 20's. I've never tried Tumblr. Hey now! I'm not 30 for over a month, Pinterest.

We've been practicing sitting up on our own some more.  They are getting better and better at it.  Colton now puts his knees under himself to push forward when he scoots.  Eventually he'll figure out that crawling business.  Cora tends to be a couple of weeks behind Colton in gross motor skills.  Cora tends to be a couple weeks ahead of Colton in social skills and fine motor skills.

We went to Camden Saturday evening to the fish fry.  It was great!  It seems like most events around here are Dan's Fish Fry.  This was better in my opinion.  It was not healthy, but tasted Oh So Good!  They are having another fish fry on June 14th with the same fish and smelt.  Maybe we will go again.  Who knows?

The twins have a 6 month appointment this week.  I can't wait to know how big they are.  I wonder how much heavier Colton is than Cora.  I think she's still longer.  We'll find out soon.

Have a great week!

Who do I look like?

Colton, Daddy, and Cora

Colton, Mommy, and Cora

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I can't complain. I cut Shawn's hair yesterday and he went to a funeral. I did some laundry yesterday and I drove up to Camden and got some deli for supper. I'm on a cooking strike this weekend. The twins had their first taste of Oven Roasted Turkey Breast and Virginia Baked Ham. And I bought and iced honey bun and they had some of that. To say they loved it is putting it mildly. Yes, that was on my law carb diet. <---- Shhh!

We watched the Pacers win last night and went to bed like the party animals we are.

Colt and Cora got me up about 6:45 this morning. It takes a long time to get them taken care of in the morning. I fed them both milk, then changed their diapers. I put one in the floor and one in the high chair and feed them fruit and cereal. I clean them up and put them on their tummy in the floor. I switch babies and repeat the process. Then I change diapers and put them in clothes for the day. They usually take a nap after that. This morning I cut Zac's hair and did some more laundry once the babies were down. We had deli for lunch again and fed the babies. They had jarred food this time. Abby had a make-up dance class today, so I took her to that while Zac and Shawn took care of the twins and cleaned house. I stopped and got some things while Abby was at dance. I bought some baby food today since Miss Cora won't always eat what I make. Anyway, while the cashier was ringing me up, she asked how old my baby was. I was tempted to be a smarty pants and say it was for me, but instead I said I had 6 month old twins at home. The lady in line behind me heard me and told me she knew exactly how hard twins are because she had babies a year and a half apart. Excuse me?!? How is that anything like twins? LOL! I bought us all a drink at McDonald's after picking Abby up and we went home.

I just took care of the washer and dryer again and now we're watching NASCAR. Well, Shawn has it on that channel. I'm not sure anyone is really watching it closely. The twins have a pediatrician appointment this week. I can't wait to see how big they are. When we take them, I need to stop by dreaded Walmart. That place is always crazy. I need to buy a booster seat. We have one high chair, but I really don't want another one. They twins would rather sit at the table with us. I rotate who sits in the high chair and who sits in my lap. I have to keep my plate far away. Cora is worse about grabbing the food in my plate. She's a stinker! She isn't a big fan of vegetables I make. She likes when I cook and grind mixed vegetables, but she's not a big fan of carrots, green beans, and peas when I make them. She will eat them from a jar, however. I just keep trying. Eventually she'll eat them.

I think Shawn is going to go get some fish tonight from the fish fry in Camden. (I'm on my cooking strike.) I can't wait for the babies to try it.

I have heard many differing opinions on when to feed your baby solid foods. I had people act like I was killing my babies because I started feeding them at 4 months. I still get comments and lots of advice on it. All I can say is talk to your pediatrician and trust their advice. This article was recently shared with me. I think its a good article.

We consulted with our pediatrician before introducing solid foods at 4 months. We discussed pretty much everything in this article. Studies show no difference when it comes to food allergies if you introduce solids at 4 months or wait until 6 months. You have to go off of cues from your baby/ies. My 2 would watch us eat and pretend to chew before 4 months. They liked sitting in my lap at the table while I ate. It is now recommended you start with meats instead of grains. The only thing you should avoid before age 1 is honey. Anything else is not off limits.

This is another good article. If our babies had not been interested in foods and would have pushed the food out of their mouth, I would have waited and tried again later. My problem is keeping their hands out of my plate and on their own food, lol!

And the twins got a taste of Olive Garden breadsticks Tuesday on their 6 month birthday. I'm trying to introduce them to a wide variety in hopes of avoiding food allergies.

5 years ago, they said wait until 6 months or later. Now they are saying foods should be introduced before 7 months.

This is from the first article, "Similarly, studies of Celiac Disease have shown that the disease occurs less frequently in children who first eat wheat between 4 and 7 months, than in those given wheat for the first time after 7 months. Likewise, a Dutch study found that infants who began eating fish between 6 and 12 monthshad less asthma at 4 years old than children who did not begin eating fish until after their first birthday."

That's why my babies are getting their first taste of fish tonight and why starting on their 6 month birthday they are getting some bread, which Colt loves by the way. He LOVES his bread. He makes noises when he eats it like its the greatest thing on earth. I should have taken a video clip of him eating tiny pieces of breadsticks with alfredo sauce at Olive Garden.

I'm sure someone is reading this right now and is shaking their head.  My babies were ready for food. Some aren't until later. You just have to trust your pediatrician and watch for the signs from your baby. They will let you know when they are ready.

I'll leave you with something I found on Facebook. I've had someone message me and say they had something similar happen recently. I had someone else say how true this is. It's also been shared a few times, so I thought I would share it here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Time

Is going too quickly!  Shawn and I were married 8 years ago yesterday.  Colt and Cora turned 6 months old yesterday as well.  They turned 26 weeks old today.  (23 weeks adjusted)  Shawn had the day off yesterday so we had the twins 6 month pictures professionally taken yesterday at Portraits by Lori.  I should get the proofs tomorrow.  I can't wait! After that, we took some baby stuff to Once Upon a Child in Lafayette, went to Hobby Lobby to pick up our frame and have the picture set in it (it's one of the pictures in this post), we ate at Olive Garden, then we went back to Once Upon a Child to see what they would buy and we bought Miss Cora some 6-9 month clothes.  I've been really cutting out the carbs, but I went overboard on them yesterday.  It was our anniversary so it was okay, right?

I was a little bothered by something yesterday.  Well, someone.  Their actions just annoy me.  And they cost me a hot fudge sundae.  LOL!  Shawn promised we would get one if a certain event happened, but we knew it wouldn't.  And it didn't.  Oh well!  I had enough carbs the way it was.  I then woke up and read this on Facebook this morning.  It was appropriate.  I'm over it now.  To each his own!

Cora touching Colt, again...

Isn't this just the cutest outfit?  I love his football bottom!

We finally got their newborn picture framed and on the wall yesterday.  They just turned 6 months old yesterday.  Oops!

3 of my kiddos this morning.

Cora~ "I'm still wobbly, but I can sit up on my own for short periods of time."

This is how Colt kisses.

Abby and Cora

I left the room and came back to this.  Aren't my 4 kids adorable?  Love them!!!

They look so sweet when they are sleeping.

Mommy is sorry you got her chubby round face, Cora!

I absolutely love his pajamas!

I took some 6 month pictures of the twins.  How are they 6 months already?

"I can pull this sticker right off, mom!"

"I have sissy's ear!"

"Ouch!  That hurt, bubby!"

"Let me feel your teeth."

I hope you enjoyed pictures and clips of my family.  I love them to pieces!

Busy Day ;)

Today turned out to be a great day.  After taking Tylenol, I felt better.  Now I feel completely better.  What was up with that?  I'm not complaining!  I'd rather not get sick, again.

I did some cooking today.  It was fun.  I love to cook!  I made up a few meals to take to my mother in law's house.  I made chicken chili, a meatloaf, and a pasta dish.  The pasta and meatloaf are in the freezer.  I also made us a meatloaf for supper.

We are currently watching The Walking Dead.  It just started.  I love this show!

Look who is sitting up unassisted!  I've never had another baby to compare, so I'm learning a lot.  Colt's not 6 months old for 2 more days and they were born 3 weeks early.  Even if they were only 3 weeks early, you are supposed to adjust their age as if they were born at 40 weeks and go off of that for developmental milestones.  I have a ticker at the top of my blog that shows the twins' adjusted age.  They should be 5 months and 6 days old today.  Can we slow down time?  Is he sitting a little early?  Or is this normal?

We worked hard in the Scott house today. ;)  Actually, Shawn is the only one that worked hard.  He had to work today.  Love you, hun!  Thank you for supporting us!!!

Abby was the only one being productive.

Lucy wanted her picture taken too.

I love my family. <3

More food, mom!

Spring

I think spring is finally on its way, so I changed up my blog.  Maybe by changing my picture to blooming flowers winter will get the idea its not wanted anymore.  One can hope...

Sorry to complain.  I slept horribly last night.  I have a cold that decided to come on last night.  Boo!  I kept tossing and turning.  I have sleep apnea, so I sleep with a c-pap.  Well, my nose filled in and I couldn't breathe well.  I have an A-flex c-pap, so it senses how much pressure I need.  Well, if I'm full of snot, it senses it needs to blow harder.  Then I leak air out the side of my mask.  That wakes you up too.  Good times.... Good times....  NOT!  I had really hoped that losing 60 pounds would make the sleep apnea go away, but it didn't.  After I'm done breastfeeding, I'd like to lose 20 more pounds.  Maybe then it will go away.

My babies are in 6-9 month clothes again. :(  How did that happen?  They will be 6 months old in 2 days on Shawn and my 8th anniversary.  I can't believe 6 months have gone by so quickly, let alone, 8 years.  How did that one happen?

Just to show you how much weight Shawn and I have lost, look here.  And yes, I'm bragging, the bottom pick was only 2 months after the twins were born.  Actually, I'm lucky I didn't gain all of that weight back in December.  As I wrote about previously, I went through having a breast lump.  I must have eaten a million cookies during that time.   I had an obsession with Monster Cookies.  I am definitely a stress eater.  And it had to be sugar.  I'm glad that's over!

I told Shawn that hopefully be December 2016 we'll look even hotter. ;)

I'm watching I Love Lucy this morning with the kids.  Lucy just stole John Wayne's footprints and Ricky just found out.

Have a great Sunday!!!
