Summer Life

The kids and I are enjoying summer break.  We've spent a lot of time in the pool.  Granted, with the rain the past couple of days we've been watching TV.

I'm just sitting here on the couch taking it easy.  I'm feeling the babies move around and it makes me feel like one of the luckiest people in the world.  I'm 26 weeks 3 days pregnant with twins.  I'm so thankful I've made it this far and I pray to make it to 38 weeks.  My heart aches for those who are experiencing infertility and/or loss.  I pray they get to be in my shoes one day.

Zac just took Lucy out in the light rain to go potty.  When out there, they found this:

A crawdad came up from the creek.  I guess the rain the past couple of days brought him up.

He is not happy with the cat here.

Have a wonderful week!

Interesting Fact

I like history and I love genealogy, so I found this interesting.   I learned something new.  We live close to Woodville.  Actually, Shawn is the one who found this today.

http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gtusa/usa/in.htm

TACOMA
AKA - Woodville

“There is a ghost town in Northwestern Carroll County that was once an Indian Village known as Tacoma.  White settlers named it Woodville.  At one time there was a large Catholic Church, saw mill, store, Universalist Church, brick school house, and many other businesses.  Today the brick school building is a private residence.  The cemetery is the only other property marker that still exists.  There are approximately 10 homes in Woodville today. You can find a couple photos on www.carrollcountymuseum.org.”

Week 26

 Definitely bigger than last week!

How Far Along: 26 weeks with twins!

How big are the babies: They are somewhere around 2 pounds each. Between 10 and 15 inches.  Websites vary.

Maternity Clothes: Yes

Weight Gain: 17.4 pounds as of this morning.

Belly: Sticking out there...

Stretch Marks: Most definitely.

Sleep: A thing of the past.

Best Moment of the Week: Feeling those kicks every day/night.

Movement: All of the time.

Symptoms: Sore boobs. Acne on my neck, chest, etc. Hair growth on my belly. Major heartburn, which I feel like is causing my bad breath. And I'm gassy now. Got to love hormones!

Food Cravings: I want sugar, but I won't let myself have any.  I'm doing well with diet for gestational diabetes.

Genders: A boy and a Girl!

What I Miss: Not worrying about what I eat (deli, etc). Sleeping through the night.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Our next ultrasound, lol.

Weekly Wisdom: Snacking is good for your glucose to stay steady.

Milestones: Babies are about 2 pounds each.  Between now and 28 weeks, the babies eyes will unfuse.  They will be able to open their eyes and blink!  Baby girl was already practice blinking at our last ultrasound.

Emotions: Shawn was mean and made me bawl last night.  Once I start crying, I can't stop.  Be nice, hun!

Yeah!

Guess who has their gestational diabetes under control with diet alone?  This girl!  It was 88 this morning.  Still below 95!  My after meals are normal too.  I need to be below 120, 2 hours after each meal.  My range 2 hours after a meal is between 76-97.  Nowhere close to 120.  I might cheat and have a few extra carbs tonight.  I think Shawn and I are going to the movies.  A little popcorn won't hurt me, right?

Belly

My belly is like this all day and night.  I just wanted to share.  I'm enjoying every second of my jumping belly!  We are blessed!

Glucose

My number was 76 this morning.  It was between 60 and 95.  This is the first time I've been below 95 in the morning in a while.  The diet is working!  Counting carbs is worth it.  I want healthy babies and I'm doing everything in my power to ensure that they are.

Week 25

My appointments went well today.  I am able to control my gestational diabetes with diet, so far.  Well, almost.  My fasting is still a little high every morning.  I might have to take Metformin or something to see if it helps.  I'll let you know when I know.  I've gotten big this week!  Check out that belly.  Dresses are my new best friend.  I wear them every day.  They aren't constricting on my belly.  And my belly is now growing daily, as you cans see.  Dresses make me look big, but I don't care.  Comfort is important.  :-)

How Far Along: 25 weeks with twins!

How big are the babies: They are somewhere around 1 pound 12 ounces.   Between 13.6 and 14.8 inches.  My babies are longer than rulers!  They are compared to cauliflower this week.

Maternity Clothes: Yes

Weight Gain: 16-17 pounds.

Belly:I "think" I'm measuring about 28-30 weeks.  The Dr. doesn't really measure often.  As long as the ultrasound shows healthy babies, he's happy.  It's hard to measure a twin belly.  They vary from person to person.

Stretch Marks: Most definitely.

Sleep: What sleep? I find myself staying awake at night just to feel them move and kick. Then I wake up to pee at least 3 times a night.  Usually 2am, 4am, and 6am.  I tend to wake Shawn up at least one of those times.  It hits me because our baby son likes to punch and headbutt my bladder, so I jump out of bed in a hurry and wake him up.  Sorry, hun!

Best Moment of the Week: Shawn got to feel major movement and kicks last night.  He asked me how I sleep with that going on.  We also bought carseats online and they arrived.  Exciting and scary!

Movement: All of the time.

Symptoms: Sore boobs. Acne on my neck, chest, etc. Hair growth on my belly. Major heartburn, which I feel like is causing my bad breath. And I'm gassy now. Got to love hormones!

Food Cravings: Peanuts.  They are my snack of choice right now on my gestational diabetes diet.  Oh, and dairy!  I no longer puke it up!!!

Genders: A boy and a Girl!

What I Miss: Not worrying about what I eat (deli, etc). Sleeping through the night.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Our next ultrasound, lol.

Weekly Wisdom: Snacking is good for your glucose to stay steady.

Milestones: Babies are over 1 1/2 pounds each.

Emotions: I still cry easily.  I've been getting emotional when I think about them being here before we know it.  13 weeks at most.  I don't imagine I'll make it past 38 weeks.

Appointment

I had just a regular appointment today.  I have my gestational diabetes appointments on Wednesday.  Nothing much to report.  Everything is going well.  We heard both heartbeats.  I lost 2 pounds from my last appointment 18 days ago.  Babies are growing and fine, so the Dr. is not concerned.  I probably won't gain as much now that I will be on a G.D. diet.  I've started the diet, so that could be why I've lost 2 pounds.  My belly has grown a ton in the past 2 weeks.  I'm not sure how I've lost weight.  It sure doesn't look like it.  That's about it here.  Have a great week!

Well, crud...

I failed my 3 hour glucose screen.  I have gestational diabetes.  If you fail 2 or more of the blood draws, you fail.  I failed 2 of them.

Fasting needs to be below 95, mine was 75.
1 Hour needs to be below 180, mine was 225.  (45 over)
2 Hour needs to be below 155, mine was 196.  (41 over)
1 Hour needs to be below 140, mine was 100.

I failed 2 of them.  In fact, after I left, my sugar plummeted.  I was driving home and I started shaking and sweating.  Apparently it was on a major downhill drop for that last draw.  I had to stop and eat something sugary to feel better.  Granted, I hadn't eaten all morning, but that's not good.  I have a couple of appointments coming up now to start a plan on getting everything under control.  I'm so glad I was testing myself early and I told my Dr. it was high.  I'm glad I'm proactive.

Have a great day!

Week 24

Baby Boy

Baby Girl

We had an ultrasound this morning.  We took Zac and Abby.  I think they enjoyed it.  :-)  Baby boy is 1 pound 6 ounces and baby girl is 1 pound 7 ounces.  I love baby girl's fist in the picture.  You can see her knuckles and 5 fingers!  They were both camera shy, so getting pictures wasn't easy.  Both babies were head down today.  Baby boy is on the right and low.  Baby girl is on the left and up high.  I have been having a LOT of Braxton Hicks contractions this week.  Monday I was cramping with them.  I called the Dr. on call and he said as long as I don't have more than 12 in 2 hours, I should be fine.  They are not consistent, so I'm okay.  As soon as I lay down on the table today, I had a good one.  The ultrasound tech did not like how frequently and easily I have them.  Because of that, the ultrasound tech wants me to take it easy.  I have to rest as much as I can.  Last week we were taking evening walks that lasted from 30-45 minutes.  I love evening walks to unwind.  No more of those for me.  She measured my cervix.  It was 39 mm.  They want it over 30, so that was good.  30 or less and I would have been put on strict bed rest.  Looks like Shawn and the kids will be doing more housework for a while.

How Far Along: 24 weeks with twins!

How big are the babies: Baby boy is 1 pound 6 ounces and baby girl is 1 pound 7 ounces.  I think around 11 inches.

Maternity Clothes: Yes

Weight Gain: 16-17 pounds.

Belly:I "think" I'm measuring about 28-30 weeks.

Stretch Marks: They have arrived.

Sleep: What sleep? I find myself staying awake at night just to feel them move and kick. Then when I do get to sleep, I wake up to a braxton hicks because I have to pee. I get those almost every time I have to pee.

Best Moment of the Week: Watching my belly move.

Movement: All of the time.

Symptoms: Sore boobs. Acne on my neck, chest, etc. Hair growth on my belly. Major heartburn, which I feel like is causing my bad breath. And I'm gassy now. Got to love hormones!

Food Cravings: Grilled asparagus and strawberries.  I had both yesterday.  It was awesome!

Genders: A boy and a Girl!

What I Miss: Not worrying about what I eat (deli, etc). Sleeping through the night.

What I'm Looking Forward to: Our next ultrasound, lol.

Weekly Wisdom: Food is good. ;-)

Milestones: Babies are almost 1 1/2 pounds each!

Emotions: I still cry easily. Especially when I'm tired, which is all of the time. Shawn is not allowed to say any slightly snide remarks. They make me bawl.

Stretch Marks: They have arrived.
