6 Weeks 4 Days

I know I haven't been blogging lately.  I've been too nervous.  I wanted to wait until our ultrasound.  I knew I would feel better after it.

What a day!  I was so nervous that I hardly slept last night.  Deep down, I thought we would see twins.  At the same time, I was afraid they would measure small like last time.  Thank God, they are where they need to be this time.  We got there 20 minutes early.  They get me back to the ultrasound room on time, but the Dr. was 5-10 minutes late.  I was so nervous by that time that my hands were shaking.  As soon as the ultrasound tech had an image, I could see 2 sacs.  Dr. Bopp leaned in and asked her, "Both heartbeats?" and she said, "Yes".  He turned to us and said, "Congratulations, you're having twins!"  My response was "Yes, but how big are they?"  They measured them.  Baby A is measuring 6 weeks 3 days (6.2 mm).  We then got to hear his/her heartbeat.  It was AMAZING!  It was 122 beats per minute.   We then moved on to baby B which is measuring 6 weeks 2 days (5.6 mm).  Baby B's heart rate was 124 beats per minute.  We got to see their little hearts flicker on the screen.  Dr. Bopp said that everything was perfect!

Dr. Bopp did warn us that 1/3 of twin pregnancies end up with a vanishing twin.  He said that rate goes down once a pregnancy has been established (saw and heard a heartbeat).  I pray they both survive!  We go back in 2 weeks for a 3-D ultrasound.  We are so excited!!!

When Dr. Bopp first came in the room, he asked me about symptoms.  I told him that I haven't had many and that I'm rarely nauseous   Only when I'm hungry.  I was worried that it was a bad sign.  He told me I was just lucky!

Both of these babies are bigger than our first baby.  Last year, our baby was 5mm at 7 weeks 6 days.  Today was 9 days sooner and they are bigger!  What a relief!

The first image is both babies.  The second image is a measurement of baby B.  The third image is baby B's heartbeat.  The fourth image is a measurement of baby A.  The last image is Baby A's heartbeat.

We are so fortunate!  Thank you all for your prayers!  We appreciate them more than you will ever know!

Have a wonderful week!!!

~Sam
